Apple Dumplings

January 13, 2018 by Michelle Dueck Leave a Comment

When the snow blows and it’s cold outside, just heat up your oven and make Apple dumplings.

I always thought Apple Dumplings took a long time to make and they were not worth the bother. I had not made them in years so how was I to remember that they were no fun to make?! I found that they were simple and easy to make. And they smelled so good when they were baking.

So let me give you some instructions and I’m sure you can make them too.

First of all you will need to peal and core 6 apples. Then make your dough.

Apple Dumpling Dough

2 cups flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup softened butter

1/2 cup milk

Mix together all the ingredients and then divide it evenly into 12 balls. With a rolling pin, roll out each ball into a circle.

Place 1/2 of an apple on each dough circle. Fold your dough up around each Apple so that the Apple is covered. Place your 12 wrapped apples in a 9×13 inch pan. Then mix up the syrup.

Syrup for Apple dumplings

2 cups Brown sugar

2 cups water

1/4 cup melted butter

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Pour syrup over the dumplings.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Enjoy them warm with milk or ice cream. Doesn’t that sound good?
