I have been missing in action the last few weeks. Friends of ours wanted us to take them to Hawaii for their 45th anniversary. So how could we say “no” when Hawaii is beautiful and warm! We totally enjoyed every minute of our trip. Thought I’d post a few picture so you can enjoy the scenery too. The Big island has lots of rocky lava beaches. Maui was lovely and we got to see lots of … [Read more...]
Visiting Peggy’s Cove NS
One of my favorite stops on our vacation this summer was Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. There were lots of pretty little bays to view on our way in to Peggy's Cove. A great place to park is at the visitor's center. Then stroll through the little town and up the hill to the lighthouse. The little Cove with its quaint shops made the walk very enjoyable. We enjoyed climbing around on … [Read more...]
6 Things You Must Do in Honolulu
Recently we enjoyed a few days in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. The weather was sunny and warm and we had lots of fun being a tourist! There are plenty of things to do in Honolulu but these 6 things you must not miss. 1. Pearl Harbor We spent a morning at Pearl Harbor and it was one of our highlights of Honolulu. It is a short bus ride out of the city. It opens at 7 and you must get there early … [Read more...]
Enjoying Warm Weather
We are just taking a break and enjoying some warm weather. A good way to miss the snow storm back home! The beach is beautiful early in the morning. Also very beautiful at sunset. The coast was also very beautiful. Loved all the many waterfalls. The ocean was always beautiful especially at dawn. Don't you wish you were in Hawaii too?! … [Read more...]
A Visit To the Zoo
Our Thanksgiving weekend was spent in the warm south and we enjoyed a lovely visit to the zoo. The temperature was 70 degrees so it was a beautiful day to head to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, South Carolina. The animals were mostly active so it was very enjoyable to watch them. The new exhibit of the sea lions was interesting. You could watch them from the top or go underneath and watch them … [Read more...]
Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
One of the highlights of our west trip was the Durango & Silverton train. You ride the old steam trains from Durango CO to Silverton. It takes about 3 hours each way and you have around 2 hours to spend in the town of Silverton. We woke up that morning with the sound of rain on our RV roof. It was hard to get everyone motivated to be on the road by 7 since we needed to be in town by … [Read more...]
Great Sand Dunes National Park
Great Sand Dunes National Park was very enjoyable for our children. They did not remember hiking sand dunes before so it was a good experience for them. It had rained the day before so the dunes were just drying off when we got there. Make sure you arrive early as the sand will get very hot in the summer. As we drove in, the side of the road was parked full and people were walking a long … [Read more...]
Mesa Verde National Park
Mesa Verde National Park was one park that I am glad we took time to tour. We weren't sure if we had time to fit this park into our schedule so I was not really planning on touring it. If we had drove by and not stopped I would have been very disappointed later when I found out what gem this park is. Where else can you tour cliff dwellings? We arrived in the early morning and first stopped … [Read more...]
Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands National Park was the park that had a little bit of scenery from each of the other parks. Some areas looked like the Grand Canyon, Arches, and Bryce. So you never knew what the next corner would look like. Buck Canyon overlook was very beautiful. There is a very deep canyon. Grand View point overlook was the best with a different type of landscape. Very beautiful. Our … [Read more...]
Arches National Park
Arches National Park is lovely with over 2000 Arches. You see very few of those from the road and most of them take some hiking to get close to. One of the first sights you see as you start driving through the park is the "Three Gossips". It reminded me of the three wise men. The courthouse towers are kinda neat too. The balancing rock is right by the roadside so you can't miss … [Read more...]
