When we planned our trip to explore Utah we did not plan to go to Grand Canyon National park. We have been at the south side of Grand Canyon at least three times (and even hiked to the bottom and back) but we were never on the north side.
When we realized that Grand Canyon on the north side was only 110 miles from Zion National Park, we decided to go. From Zion National Park it seemed like it was uphill all the 110 miles!
It was so hot when we left Zion National Park and I wondered if it was worth it to drive to Grand Canyon as I remembered how hot it could get on the south side. When we got there we were at 8255 feet and when we got out it was nice and cool.
We hiked up to Bright Angel Point and got a good view of the canyon. I always find that the view of the Grand Canyon about takes your breath away. It is so inspiring to realize that God made such a beautiful place.
On the north side there is basically one place to stop. It is very beautiful but if you are trying to decide which side to see, make sure you pick the south side. On the north side there are a lot less visitors so if you get close by make sure that you stop in even if it isn’t as big as the south side.
I always tell folks that everyone should see the Grand Canyon National park at least one time in their life. It is worth the drive and it won’t disappoint you. So make sure that the Grand Canyon National Park is on you bucket list some where!
On the way back to our campsite we were able to enjoy a lovely sunset.
