We have been out of paper towels for a long time. Usually I keep a few on hand but somehow I haven’t missed them. We use rags. Lots of rags. Since we have been doing lots of house cleaning lately there are always rags to wash. I am trying to teach my girls to always hang them up and not pile them. Then when they are dry they can be piled in a basket until we are ready to wash them. We have lots of different rags. You need smooth white rags for washing windows. Cut up t-shirts make great rags for this. Then for scrubbing cut up socks or old towels work just fine. When they start to get holes in them you just throw them out.
We wash them with the towels and then fold them up and put them in a little basket that fits under the laundry sink. The window washing rags should not get washed with the towels as then they leave fuzzies on your windows. There is always a great supply and if they get low we just cut up some more socks or towels. Now we just have to make some dinner napkins so we do not have to buy them!
