One of the favorite things to play with at our house is Gunk. It is soft wobbly stuff and it is hard to describe. Maybe it is just gunky! It is easy to make and with supervision even preschoolers could make it. It only takes a few minutes to make and will provide hours of fun. Even adults enjoy playing with it. Gunk 2 cups Elmers white glue ( off brands work good too and four 4 oz … [Read more...]
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins
With dreams of Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins, I faithfully planted pumpkins in the spring. My large round pumpkins died off with bugs. The neck pumpkins that have never grown for me grew over their designated area. When they finally stopped growing and I peered into the large patch of leaves, I realized that there was a multitude of neck pumpkins. So the other day I picked two of the smaller … [Read more...]
Instant Gratification Versus Saving Money
Do we want instant gratification or do we want to save money? I looked up gratification and the definition was "pleasure, especially when gained from the satisfaction of a desire." Instant means, "happening or coming immediately." A simple way to define instant gratification is to give you an illustration. You're out shopping and it is getting past lunch time. You drive by a fast food … [Read more...]
Frosted Cinnamon Rolls
I enjoy making cinnamon rolls and these frosted rolls are so good. I just dump the ingredients in my bread maker and out comes these delicious rolls! Well, I wish it would work that way but the bread maker does speed things up. I put the ingredients in the bread maker and set it on dough setting and not worry about it until 1 hour and 40 minutes later when they are all ready to roll out. Even … [Read more...]
Tupperware and Memories
When I think of Tupperware, not only do I think of beautiful colored bowls but it brings back memories of growing up. We had an older couple in our neighborhood who had sold Tupperware for years. Mom had lots of Tupperware and I always wondered how people survived … [Read more...]

Raising Black Swallowtail Butterflies
One of my favorite hobbies is raising Black Swallowtail butterflies or any butterfly for that matter. My children know they will make my day if they find me a caterpillar. This summer the caterpillars were scarce. We only collected two. Next year I plan to buy a lot of parsley as that is one of their favorite foods. We found ours on our carrot tops as they like them as well. When we find … [Read more...]
Recycle Old Jeans into Quilts
I love to recycle, so turning old jeans into quilts has been a long time project of mine. It is a never ending job since the men keep wearing out their jeans! I have a big box full of patches in all sizes. I used to cut patches from 3-8 inches. Now I pretty much just cut 6 inch patches and throw the rest away since I always have plenty of jeans. I first cut a 6" square out of cardboard. … [Read more...]
