Mesa Verde National Park was one park that I am glad we took time to tour. We weren't sure if we had time to fit this park into our schedule so I was not really planning on touring it. If we had drove by and not stopped I would have been very disappointed later when I found out what gem this park is. Where else can you tour cliff dwellings? We arrived in the early morning and first stopped … [Read more...]
Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands National Park was the park that had a little bit of scenery from each of the other parks. Some areas looked like the Grand Canyon, Arches, and Bryce. So you never knew what the next corner would look like. Buck Canyon overlook was very beautiful. There is a very deep canyon. Grand View point overlook was the best with a different type of landscape. Very beautiful. Our … [Read more...]
Arches National Park
Arches National Park is lovely with over 2000 Arches. You see very few of those from the road and most of them take some hiking to get close to. One of the first sights you see as you start driving through the park is the "Three Gossips". It reminded me of the three wise men. The courthouse towers are kinda neat too. The balancing rock is right by the roadside so you can't miss … [Read more...]
Capitol Reef National Park
Capitol Reef National Park was very beautiful even though it was one of the smaller parks we visited. You drive through lots of barren land in Utah and then you realize that some people used to survive in these areas. We felt a bit slighted as we arrived at the park just as the visitor center was closing at 6 pm. It is always fun to visit the visitors center and ask what part of the park … [Read more...]
Bryce Canyon National Park
My favorite national park in Utah is Bryce Canyon National Park. The deep canyon is gorgeous with lots of hoodoos. Hoodoos are tall rock spires and this is the only park that we saw them. We took the shuttle from the visitors center and to see the sites you must get off and walk. Inspiration point was awesome and to get a better look you can hike up the trail to a high point. You can tell … [Read more...]
Grand Canyon National Park
When we planned our trip to explore Utah we did not plan to go to Grand Canyon National park. We have been at the south side of Grand Canyon at least three times (and even hiked to the bottom and back) but we were never on the north side. When we realized that Grand Canyon on the north side was only 110 miles from Zion National Park, we decided to go. From Zion National Park it seemed like it … [Read more...]
Zion National Park
From the beautiful Grand Tetons we drove to Zion National Park. Route 89 down to Interstate 15 was a very beautiful drive. You drive through some tight canyons and many curves so it made for an exciting ride especially in an RV. It was a good days drive and the closer we got to Zion the warmer it got. We got a campground about a half hour away from the park. We spent some time the next morning … [Read more...]
Grand Teton National Park
One of my favorite parks is the Grand Teton National Park. There are very few places that have such awesome mountains. It is not as big as some parks but it is very big in its beauty. When you drive out of Yellowstone National Park on the south side you automatically drive into the Grand Teton Park. The drive down the highway with the mountains on your right is a beautiful drive. We had … [Read more...]
Yellowstone National Park
Thursday morning we left my sister's house and headed for Yellowstone National Park. Nine years ago when we were out west we had gone to Yellowstone. We had really looked forward to see the park as we knew there was lots to see. But...no one had told us that you need a full day or more to see and experience the park. We had entered at noon and had to be out in the evening as the campgrounds were … [Read more...]
Big Sky Montana
We are enjoying our trip to Montana. The scenery is beautiful and I never get tired of the lovely big blue sky. We always enjoy our walks to the river. The Clark Fork river is always lovely. I just love the mountains, blue sky, and the water. The sky is large and there is lots of open space. My brother-in-law, Leroy, made a … [Read more...]
