We are enjoying all the bowls of strawberries that we are picking from our garden. We having strawberry pie, strawberry fruit salad, strawberry jelly, and strawberry shortcake. I’m not sure which we like better, strawberry pie or strawberry shortcake.

Shortcake is so simple to make and so good to eat. It can be whipped up in a few minutes and doesn’t take long to bake. Pick some berries, bake the shortcake, and get out some bowls and milk.

Shortcake

1 1/3 cup sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp vanilla

2 eggs

3 cups flour

1 cup milk

4 tsp baking powder

Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix. Put in 2 round pans (8″) and bake for 20 minutes. Serve with strawberries, milk, and whipped cream.
